The Port au Prince is a classic tiki drink from the 1930s that features a unique blend of flavors. This version of the recipe, from @shannonmustipher, uses San Zanj, a Haitian clairin/agricole blend, to add an extra funky flavor to the drink. Here's how you can make it at home:
Ingredients:
- 2 oz San Zanj
- 1/4 oz overproof rum (such as @plantation.rum)
- 3/4 oz falernum (such as @jdt_velvet_falernum)
- 3/4 oz lime juice
- 1/2 oz pineapple juice (from @lakewoodorganic)
- 1/4 oz grenadine
- 6 drops of 'Elemakule tiki bitters (from @bittermens)
- Garnish: freshly grated nutmeg, orange peel, compostable straw (from @impasta_straws)
Instructions:
- Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
- Shake to chill and strain into a Collins glass over crushed ice.
- Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and an orange peel.
- Serve and take a sip using an imPASTA straw!
Note: If you're not a fan of the funky flavor of San Zanj, you can swap it out for another type of rum. This drink is perfect for a summer evening or a fun tiki-themed party with friends.
