Port Au Prince crafted by @melscraftcocktails

Port Au Prince crafted by @melscraftcocktails

The Port au Prince is a classic tiki drink from the 1930s that features a unique blend of flavors. This version of the recipe, from @shannonmustipher, uses San Zanj, a Haitian clairin/agricole blend, to add an extra funky flavor to the drink. Here's how you can make it at home:

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz San Zanj
  • 1/4 oz overproof rum (such as @plantation.rum)
  • 3/4 oz falernum (such as @jdt_velvet_falernum)
  • 3/4 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz pineapple juice (from @lakewoodorganic)
  • 1/4 oz grenadine
  • 6 drops of 'Elemakule tiki bitters (from @bittermens)
  • Garnish: freshly grated nutmeg, orange peel, compostable straw (from @impasta_straws)

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake to chill and strain into a Collins glass over crushed ice.
  3. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and an orange peel.
  4. Serve and take a sip using an imPASTA straw!

Note: If you're not a fan of the funky flavor of San Zanj, you can swap it out for another type of rum. This drink is perfect for a summer evening or a fun tiki-themed party with friends.
